Trailer full of stolen car seats recovered

Monday, July 16, 2007

Authorities have recovered a trailer that was stolen as it held about 85 safety seats meant to help needy children in the Houston area.

Few details are being released about the recovery of the trailer and its cargo, which are considered to be evidence.

The trailer owned by Texas Children's Hospital turned up missing last Tuesday night from a Harris County community service center. The child seats were meant for a Safe Kids program in the Houston area.

A businessman from Katy -- Mike Nooney -- was among those who heard about the theft and donated money to help buy replacement car seats. Nooney is now insisting that officials keep those funds, to purchase more car seats or otherwise help the children's safety program.
