Big rig full of frozen chickens slams into car dealership

Friday, July 27, 2007

There was a big mess at a car dealership in Humble after an 18-wheeler full of frozen chickens slammed into several vehicles.

It happened at 1:30am at Robbins Nissan on Highway 59 near FM 1960. The accident took out at least two dozen vehicles. Among those, three cars were completely destroyed.

The truck driver told authorities that he lost control of his rig after having a blowout and came crashing into the dealership.

"He crossed over the median. He crossed over the service road," said Brian Waldroup with the Humble Police Department. "He came right through here. He struck approximately about 20 other vehicles."

Inside the rig were 20,000 pounds of frozen chickens.

The dealership says they have lost several Nissan Sentra models and several Maxima vehicles.

The truck driver was not injured.
