SWAT team storms into empty home in Houston's southside

Wednesday, August 29, 2007

SWAT teams stormed a house on the southside this morning only to discover no one was home.

It happened in the Regal Oaks subdivision just off of Almeda-Genoa Road and Fenland. Authorities got a call around 12:30am that a woman was holed up in the house and that she did have a gun.

A SWAT team apparently was on top of the home around 5:30am and broke one of the second floor windows. They were trying to make contact with the woman, Stephanie Hampton, who was believed to be inside the home.

Authorities say the woman was in communication with her husband, who is supposedly in Iraq right now. The husband told authorities she has had suicidal tendencies and has not taken her medications. The woman never communicated directly with police.

It's unknown where the woman is now.
