(8/30/07 - KTRK/HOUSTON) (KTRK) -- Authorities say they have shut down a puppy mill in north Harris County and in the process, found 30 dead dogs.
Our cameras were rolling as SPCA workers rescued 45 other dogs, most of them bull dogs. Some had their ribs showing because they were so thin. Neighbors had previously complained to local officials about the owner because of the overpowering smell from the property.
"They just look so dehydrated," said eyewitness Barbara Cox. "You can see all of their bones, even the puppies. I have dogs and I don't treat them that bad."
A hearing will be scheduled next Tuesday about the animals. It's not known what charges the owner of the property will face.
