(9/10/07 - KTRK/HOUSTON) (KTRK) -- A man from the Heights is the fifth person diagnosed with West Nile virus in Harris County this summer.
The first case was reported on the north side in late July. Four more cases have been diagnosed in the same area in the last three weeks. Unlike the first four cases which affected older adults, the most recent victim is a young man in his late 20s or early 30s. Standing water is a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Concerned parents won't let their children play outside without first putting on repellent.
"We pretty much spray down every day before we go out past," said concerned parent Sarah Aderholt.
Health officials say only 20 percent of people infected with the virus ever develop symptoms.
