(9/30/07 - KTRK/HOUSTON) (KTRK) -- Authorities arrested a man accused of crashing his pickup into several homes and vehicles in a northeast Harris County subdivision last night.
One of the homes struck had four children sleeping inside. Fortunately, no one was hurt. But we have learned sheriff's deputies were forced to use a Taser to stop the driver.
Neighbors rushed out of their homes around 10pm yesterday when they heard all the noise off East Lake Houston Parkway and Barry's Way. Police say Kenneth McGlochlin, 20, is not only is accused of resisting arrest. He's also blamed for terrorizing an entire neighborhood.
"You know, I don't understand why he didn't stop after this. Liike I said, the steps, the porch was where the patio door is," said frightened resident Cindy Bergeron.
With her back porch left in shambles, Bergeron isn't the only with questions. As police try to figure out what led the 20-year-old driver to go on a dangerous rampage.
"The car was parked straight, so you can see how he hit it," said Bergeron.
Police say the person behind the wheel of thev truck began to drive erratically inside the Lakewood Village Subdivision. His path of destruction leaving behind rows of torn up fences. Several vehicles were also hit. One car even rammed into a trailer with four small children sleeping inside.
"I saw the truck coming this way and hit the front of her car," said resident Deborah Dempsey.
Dempsey saw most of the rampage from her home, watching as the truck she says narrowly missed several people, including her son.
"I said, 'Everybody get out of the street' because he went around he could have come back. We didn't know where he was going," she said.
The driver eventually crashed into a yard, where angry neighbors quickly surrounded him. When deputies arrived, witnesses say authorities had to use a Taser to subdue him. It was a dramatic end to an evening filled with destruction.
"I was just glad I wasn't in the house at the time," said Bergeron. "I guess I was thankful for that."
HPD is handling the case. It's unclear at this point whether McGlochlin was given a sobriety test at the scene. He's due in court October 5.
