(10/01/07 - KTRK/HOUSTON) (KTRK) -- The FBI is trying to track down a bank robber they're calling the "Lunch Money Bandit."
The FBI Bank Robbery Task Force is seeking the public's assistance in identifying the "Lunch Money Bandit", who robbed the Wachovia Bank located at 12017 Northwest Freeway, on September 27.
The bandit approached the teller counter and placed a blue-gray vinyl lunchbox on the counter, keeping one hand inside the lunchbox at all times. He demanded money and, after obtaining the loot, he was observed getting into an older model red Pontiac four-door vehicle. No one was physically hurt.
On September 15, the "Lunch Money Bandit" robbed the Washington Mutual Bank located inside the Fiesta supermarket at 2323 Wirt Road, also placing the blue-gray lunchbox on the teller counter. In this robbery, the bandit showed the teller a handgun at the bottom of the lunch box.
In both robberies, the "Lunch Money Bandit" wore a dark blue mechanic's coverall, baseball hat and sunglasses. He is described as a white male 35-45 years old, 210-230 pounds, chubby build, no facial hair, and a very pale complexion. In the September 15 robbery, he was also seen leaving the scene in an older model vehicle, a white two-door of unknown make and model.
Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the charging and arrest of the "Lunch Money Bandit" and other felony suspects. If you have any information, call the FBI at 713-693-5000, or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
