(10/29/07 - KTRK/HOUSTON) (KTRK) -- A teacher with Spring ISD was in a courtroom instead of the classroom this morning. She's accused of sexually assaulting a student.
Allison Mosbeck is charged with the sexual assault of a 14-year-old student. She was arrested on Friday at her home at the end of a three-week investigation. The investigation claims that Mosbeck was having an inappropriate relationship with the teen.
She's now charged with one count of having that inappropriate relationship and three counts of sexual assault of a minor between the ages of 14 and 16.
District officials would not comment on how long they believe the alleged relationship was going on, but they did say Mosbeck resigned over the weekend.
School officials have chosen not to inform parents, because the alleged victim was not a student at the school where Mosbeck taught.
Spring ISD spokesperson Regina Curry explained, "Unlike a situation that might involve other students -- if we feel that there are other students on the campus whose safety is in harm's way, we would certainly notify those people that need to be notified."
Mosbeck left court without saying anything. She's due back in court on November 29.
Mosbeck was hired by Spring ISD in 2005. She taught seventh grade history.
