Gas leak near elementary school

Tuesday, November 13, 2007

A gas leak near an elementary school in east Houston caused some concern.

Shortly before 3pm, a road crew hit a gas line on Market Street near Port Street. Students were let out of nearby Martinez Elementary after briefly sheltering in place.

Officials checked and found there were no elevated levels of gas inside the school. However, parents may experience difficulty reaching the school, due to the fact that Market has been blocked by emergency vehicles.

No injuries were reported.
