Motorcyclist falls from elevated HOV lane

  

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A motorcyclist suffered severe injuries when he flew off his bike and plunged about 45 feet onto the Gulf Freeway below. His bike stayed up on the HOV lane he was driving on.

The accident happened near Scarsdale during the morning rush hour. Police say the biker apparently was speeding, lost control, hit the side of the HOV lane and fell onto the freeway.

At last check, the victim was in the ICU at Ben Taub Hospital.
