Store clerk fatally shoots robbery suspect

  

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A store clerk shot two suspected robbers in southwest Houston, killing one of them.

Investigators say two men walked into the store on Synott near Ashford Point just before 3am today and purchased a couple of items. As the clerk opened the register, one of the men grabbed some cash and tried to run. That's when the clerk pulled out a gun and shot both of them.

The suspect, who was driving, died at the scene from his gunshot wounds. The second suspect ran but was later arrested and taken to the hospital.

Police say they're not sure if the clerk will face any charges.
