The mother of a missing Rice University student is making a plea to her son.

Matthew Wilson disappeared in December. His mom, Cathy Wilson, is helping out with the search for him in Berkely, California. Last month, his abandoned car was found there.

The vehicle reportedly contained books about assuming a new identity and how to live cheaply in San Francisco. She says she knows her son may want to be left alone, but she just wants to hear from him.

"Say, 'Mom, I'm fine,' and then I won't have to be looking for you the rest of my life, Matthew Wilson," said his mother, Cathy Wilson. "You know otherwise, I'm going to because you know how determined I am. I'm talking directly to you now, Matt."

Investigators say there are no signs of foul play in this case and they are looking into the possibility Wilson is living in the bay area.
