BELLAIRE, TX (KTRK) -- A local woman is in a hospital, the result of a violent attack in a parking garage. All she was trying to do was go to work.

At Foundation Surgical Hospital on the West Loop near Westpark, it seems now the security guards are ever present, especially in the parking garage. But early Saturday morning, no one was there to help as a woman went from hospital employee to brutal crime victim.
"They did this for her purse," said Lt. Michael Leal with the Bellaire Police Department. "You know what are they going to do next time."
According to Bellaire police, the woman was just getting to work around 6:30am. She parked her car and was gathering her things when all of the sudden, two males were at her window and wanted in."They began to hit her window with an unknown object. She doesn't know what it was, a pipe or a bat or what it was," said Leal. "After about three or four attempts, the window actually shattered."
She told police they reached in and restrained her as they grabbed her purse. They ran off to a waiting car. She got out and yelled for help. The attack then turned more violent.
"The two suspects actually ran over her," said Leal. "They intentionally ran over her as she was trying to flee."
Police think the robbers followed their victim into the garage, targeting her because she was female, was alone and it was still dark. It's a wake up call for Torie Brown, who works nearby.
"I'm going to have to be more careful, very careful watching my surroundings," she said.
And just a reminder to be alert for April Cage.
"I watch my surroundings everywhere," she said. "I go. I don't get on my phone and I always have my keys in my hand before I get in the car."
The victim is at Memorial Hermann Hospital with severe leg injuries. She was able to give police a vague description of her attackers, saying they're black males, 20-30 years old and driving a grey four-door sedan.
Bellaire police are checking with HPD to see if these guys have committed similar crimes in Houston. Meantime, we're told that Bellaire hospital has added an extra security officer because of that attack.
