KATY, TX (KTRK) -- There are new developments in the kidnapping case involving a pair of Katy school district police officers. A reward is now on the table, and authorities have also learned more about the suspect's actions the night before the kidnapping.
Police say Katy ISD Officer Julio 'Trey' Reyes kidnapped his ex-girlfriend, Officer Rachel Hillsman, Tuesday morning. And now, a massive manhunt for them is underway.
Waller County Sheriff Glenn Smith tells us they've learned that Reyes bought items the night before the alleged abduction that suggest he's trying to hide out.
"I know 'Trey' and I know Rachel and I would never think he'd do anything about this," said friend Ashley Zegarrundo. "I've had conversations with Rachel about Trey, but never something violent."
Zegarrundo is just one of many people in Brookshire who hope the mother of two will return safe. Hillsman and Reyes, who have a child together, have not been seen since 6am Tuesday morning as Hillsman left for work.
"You can see the look on some of these guys and girls faces that they knew these two and they want to find them both safe," said Sheriff Smith.
Sheriff Smith says Hillman and Reyes fought Monday night and Hillsman, along with her two children, came to stay with stay with her mother at a property in Waller County. Reyes was reportedly waiting for her as she left for work the next day, her two children in tow as witnesses.
"There was a struggle based on Devon and the smaller child witnesses," said Sheriff Smith. "There has been a small amount of blood found."
Today is another day of road blocks in the Brookshire area as officers search car to car for Hillsman.
Zegarrundo, who says she knows Hillsman from their time together at church, has one simply prayer.
"That Rachel makes it home safely and that Trey knows that violence isn't going to solve anything," she said. "Just hopefully he realizes that what he's doing is wrong and he can bring Rachel home to be with her two little girls."
The two were last seen in Reyes' pickup truck, a green 2002 Ford Super Duty with the Texas license plate 87V DP7. The couple had been broken up for months, though they still communicated because they have the baby girl together.
There is now a $25,000 reward being offered in this case. If you have any information, you're asked to call the Waller County Crime Stoppers line at 979-826-8266.
There are more than four dozen officers working on this case, as well as three to four choppers searching by air.
