Teen arrested in elderly woman's death

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- An 18-year-old man has been arrested for the weekend murder of a 79-year-old northwest Harris County woman.

Muriel Kirkpatrick was killed Saturday, while unloading groceries outside her apartment on Barker Cypress. Neighbors have been uneasy the last five days with the killer on the loose.

Overnight, a suspect, 18-year-old Frank Anthony Benitez, was charged for Kirkpatrick's murder. He may make a court appearance today.

Investigators received a tip that Benitez was the suspect, though they still have not identified a motive for the crime.
