A man arrested in Conroe on a theft charge has died after being found hanged in the infirmary unit of the Montgomery County Jail.

Investigators say 32-year-old Douglas James Snyder was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Houston Chronicle reports sheriff's authorities say the homeless man, whose body was discovered around 5 p.m. Tuesday, apparently used a blanket to hang himself.

Snyder had been receiving medical attention for an undisclosed condition.

Conroe police on Sunday arrested Snyder on a felony theft charge. He also was wanted in Galveston County on a bond forfeiture charge.
