Houston ISD trustees voted Thursday to eliminate the contracts of six employees at Kashmere High and Key Middle schools. Among the contracts terminated was that of Kashmere High School Principal Mable Caleb. She's been at the center of fraud and theft allegations at Key Middle School, where she was once the principal.
HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Houston ISD trustees voted to fire six Key Middle School and Kashmere High School employees, including the high school's principal.
School board members went behind closed doors before the start of Thursday's meeting to discuss the future employment of 10 employees at the two campuses. During the meeting, trustees voted to terminate the contracts of six staff members, including Kashmere High School's principal, Mabel Caleb. Caleb was the principal of Key Middle School when thousands of dollars worth of equipment went missing. The district launched an investigation probing Caleb and other staff members. Caleb had already announced last month her plans to retire later this year because of unrelated family and personal health reasons. The board's Thursday vote paid off her contract, which goes through August, Caleb's attorney Chris Tritico told ABC 13.
