STAFFORD, TX (KTRK) -- We have an update on a newborn baby who was abandoned on the doorstep of a Fort Bend County apartment.
A judge Thursday awarded Child Protective Services emergency custody of the baby girl. She was left outside an apartment wrapped in towels just hours after her birth. The baby is currently being treated in a hospital. Investigators have yet to track down the child's parents. Since this baby was not abandoned within the guidelines of the Baby Moses Law, deputies say the birth mother could face a felony child abandonment charge. They added that it appeared whoever dropped off the child chose the family's apartment at random. The child will be released from the hospital on Friday and placed in foster care until a hearing July 14.
