Weekend closures on I-10 and Hwy 59

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A major construction project is underway near downtown Houston and you'll want to avoid the area for the much of the weekend.

It's all happening at the I-10 and Eastex Freeway interchange. Motorists will likely experience significant delays and should consider an alternate route if possible.

The closures are listed below in the order that they will take place:

• I-10 West at US 59 will be completely closed beginning at 8:00pm Saturday, August 28 until 5:00am Monday, August 30. Detour to 59 North, u-turn at Collingsworth and take 59 South to I-10 West.
• I-10 West to US 59 South ramp will be completely closed beginning at 8:00pm Saturday, August 28 until 5:00am Monday, August 30. Detour to 59 North, u-turn at Collingsworth and take 59 South.

All closures are subject to change due to inclement weather.
