HUMBLE, TX (KTRK) -- A missing baby boy was found safe after an all night Amber Alert. Now police are working to figure out just where he was for more than 12 hours.
The Amber Alert for James Michael Green III ended Monday morning when the boy's mother received a call from his father saying they were safe. The child was found uninjured at around 9am. Investigators are still talking to the father to find out exactly what happened. The child's mother left the police station with her toddler this morning. She called police at around 5pm yesterday when Green, her husband, failed to pick her up at the T.G.I Fridays where she works. She called his cell phone and a stranger answered. Police issued an Amber Alert that was called off this morning after a Harris County deputy saw the father on a pay phone. He was calling his wife on that phone because he'd sold his cell phone for cash. Police say no charges are being filed. They say Green had been having some personal problems prior to the incident, and although he was driving around all night with his child, he didn't commit a crime. They say the Amber Alert system which led to him being located is a good tool in cases like this one that don't always end this way. "It's better to be safe than sorry. You never know the outcome," said Lt. Jay Wrobliske of the Humble Police Department. "This ended up being a family issue which ended on good terms. But you never know; it could have been a lot worse." The mother did tell us she is very thankful to the police for helping track down her child.
