DICKINSON, TX (KTRK) -- There's new information about a newborn baby who was dropped off on the doorstep of a home in Dickinson.
The boy, named "Baby Nicholas" by investigators, is still hospitalized in critical condition at Clear Lake Regional Hospital, with doctors believing his condition should slowly improve.Investigators with the Galveston County Sheriff's Department believe "Nicholas" was placed on the front porch of a residence in the 2900 block of Ohio Avenue between 5am and 9am Tuesday. A canvass of that neighborhood yielded no promising leads or witnesses.
Detectives have released photographs and information about the blankets and bag found with "Nicholas":
- A small white "Home Classics" polyester blanket with designs of Christmas trees, gingerbread men, candy canes, cupcakes, cookies, and candies, sold exclusively at Kohl's Department Stores
- A fleece blanket with a large design of a TV/VCR remote control, known to be sold at JoAnn's Fabrics and other retail stores
- A blue and black Plano brand "Tackle Logic" nylon fishing tackle bag, in very good condition, and sold through Academy Sporting Goods stores between 1998 and 2002.
Investigators still express concerns about the baby's mother, and are anxious not only to speak with her but to make sure her health is not in danger.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Galveston County Sheriff's Office at 409-766-2322 or any Crime Stoppers organization.
