Residents asked not to water lawns during water line repair

Monday, June 13, 2011

An emergency repair to a leaking water line will impact the residents of League City and Friendswood.

Due to a reduced volume of water and lower operating pressures, both residential and commercial customers are asked to immediately discontinue all irrigation of landscaping and unnecessary water usage for at least the next 48 hours.

The city says reduced water usage is necessary until repairs are complete on a leak in the 42-inch water transmission line on State Hwy. 3. This water line supplies the majority of the water required to meet the daily demand of League City.

Friendswood officials have asked residents to suspend all outdoor watering through this weekend. Friendswood is already under voluntary outdoor watering limitations as well.
