HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police are investigating a homicide that happened Saturday afternoon in west Houston.
Investigators say they were called to a shooting in the 12600 block of Mews Cir. at Ashford Park around 4pm Saturday. Houston police say the 16-year-old male victim was with another juvenile male inside an apartment at the above address when they began playing with a shotgun they believed was unloaded. While playing with the shotgun, it discharged, striking the victim in the abdomen. Houston Fire Department personnel were called to the scene and transported the victim to the hospital where he died. His identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. Police say the investigation is continuing.
