HOUSTON (KTRK) -- She was out celebrating her birthday, but her night of celebration ended in tragedy.
According to Harris County deputies, a pickup truck hit and killed Lucinda Hernandez while she walked in the 2000 of West Mount Houston.
The truck never stopped.
The victim's family says they need your help to find the driver who hit her.
Holding on tightly, the family grieves.
"Tell me it's not her," her mother, Andrea Nanez, said.
Hernandez -- mother of five, grandmother of two -- was killed the morning after her 38th birthday.
"I was with her on her birthday. I can't believe she's gone," daughter Anna Martinez said.
Lucinda and her husband, Ever Hernandez, were on their way home from a birthday celebration. It was 4am and the couple started arguing.
Deputies say Lucinda Hernandez stopped the car on the side of West Mount Houston, got out of the car and walked into the street.
"[The victim's husband] waited several seconds and got out of the vehicle and started following her, and at that time she entered the number three westbound lane and was struck by a white truck," HCSO Dep. Lawrence Hernandez said.
Officials say she died instantly.
Her husband says he saw it happen from across the street.
"I tried to move but it was too late," he said.
Ever Hernandez tells us the truck never slowed down, even though a headlight fell off.
"If she would have let me bring her home, she would be here right now," Martinez said.
Now this family wants justice.
"Whoever did this to her needs to come up," daughter Jessica Hernandez said.
"Pay [for] what you did. That isn't right. Put yourself in my position, if that was your only sister or family member," the victim's sister, Tracy Tastro, said.
Investigators are looking for a white pickup truck with damage to the front.
Deputies tell us the driver would not have been at fault because Hernandez was in the roadway and it was dark, but that person fled for whatever reason and will now face a felony charge.
Anyone with information can call HCSO or Crime Stoppers.
