HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The start of the 2012 school year is just weeks away, and hundreds of children are receiving school supplies for free this weekend.
The Islamic Circle of North America is holding its back-to-school giveaway this weekend in the Bayou City region and across the country. They expect to hand out about 1,000 backpacks stuffed with supplies at four locations in the Houston area.
It all kicked off Saturday, but the freebies continue today.
The first local giveaway is from 10am to 1pm at the A.S.I.A. Center, 618 Barringer Lane in Webster
Then from 11am to 2pm, another giveaway will be held at the Masjid Isa Ibn Mariam, located at 13195 Veterans Memorial Drive in Houston.
Tax-deductible donations are being accepted at www.icnahouston.org.
