HOUSTON (KTRK) -- An off-duty Houston police officer was involved in a shooting in northwest Harris County early this morning.
It happened at around 2:20am at the Stone Leigh Crossing apartments on FM 1960 near Ella. Harris Co. Sheriff's deputies tell us an off-duty HPD officer was working security at the complex when he came across two suspects trying to steal copper from A/C units. Deputies say one of the suspects fired a shot in the direction of the officer when the officer shot twice, injuring at least one of the suspects.
The suspects fled in a Chevy pickup truck.
