Robbers target Denny's restaurant in east Houston

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- There was a scare for workers at a local Denny's restaurant as robbers held up the place earlier this morning.

It happened around 2:40am at the Denny's on the East Freeway near Holland. Police tell us one of the suspects went into the restaurant and the other one waited in a getaway car.

According to workers, the suspect got into a scuffle with a female worker inside after she refused to hand over any money. They tell us her arm was injured during that struggle.

Workers say the suspect claimed to be armed but didn't show a weapon. It's unclear if in fact the suspect did have a weapon or was just using that as a threat.

It's also unknown at this time if the suspects got away with any cash. Police say the suspects drove away in a grey vehicle.
