HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Enjoy the quiet weather while it lasts. Big changes are on the way for the weekend!
Way warm temperatures continue through tomorrow, with highs in the 70s. Rain and storms likely both Saturday and Sunday, as a cold front moves south across the state. We expect the cold front to push through the Houston area and off the coastline between 5 - 9am Sunday.
We're concerned about the impact of this stormy weather on the runners and spectators at the Chevron Houston Marathon Sunday morning. Rain, wind and even chilly temperatures will have no impact on race plans. However, lightning in the area could delay or even put a stop to the race.
Timing is everything with regards to the front and the start of the marathon. Right now, it looks like most of the lightning will be just ahead of and along the cold front, with rain, wind and cold behind the front. If you will be cheering on the runners along the race route, wear your rain gear and bundle up!
We stay unsettled and chilly through the middle of next week
We'll keep you updated on air and online. Weather warnings are posted as soon as they are issued on the ABC13Weather Twitter page.
