HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A family has a new pet after helping save a puppy from a manhole in northwest Houston.
Kristin Moore says she and her mom were walking their dog Sunday afternoon when they heard the puppy's cries for help.
The noise was coming from an uncovered manhole.
"My mom was like, 'OK, we're going to try to get him.' But the hole was too -- it had the brush and stuff around it and we couldn't get to it," Moore said. "So we called the fire department to come save the puppy."
Firefighters trimmed back the brush and used a ladder to climb in and get the puppy. They gave him some air and water, but he seemed to be in pretty good shape.
Moore and her mom took one look at the puppy and decided they wanted to keep him. They said they're going to name him Super Bowl.
