HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A local convenience store owner tells us he is living in fear after his business was targeted by thieves for the second time in a week, and Eyewitness News has exclusive video of the incident.
The suspect held up a clerk at gunpoint last night at the Minute Stop on Greenridge near Westheimer and got away with an unknown amount of cash. This comes almost a week after the same southwest Houston store was burglarized.
You can see last night's robbery unfold on surveillance video. The suspect looks like a customer trying to make a purchase, but that man calmly pulls a gun from his coat and demands money from the register. Still holding the gun, he ends up helping himself to the cash in the drawer and then leaves the store.
"He has a gun. Took everything we have here, and it was really scary," store owner Fowzie Idris said. "Somebody is about to report to police, but he's about to die. I don't know what's going on."
This can be blamed in part, according to Idris, on a vacant storefront next door. That's how the burglar broke in last week, and Idris thinks the same man came back last night with a gun.
Idris says someone broke into his store last Saturday through the sheetrock in the vacant storefront next to him. Although he asked his landlord to fix the door, it still swings wide open, leaving his store vulnerable.
Idris says he had to hire another employee so someone could watch the store 24 hours a day, but last night proved that wasn't enough.
If you have any information on either incident, call Houston police or Crime Stoppers.
