3 robbery suspects arrested a block away from crime scene in northwest Houston

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Three suspects were behind bars Saturday night, caught by police soon after they allegedly robbed a northwest Houston store.

According to the Houston Police Department, three men robbed the Gadget Store in the 10700 block of Westview Drive around 4pm Saturday. Store owner Bilal Malik tells us the suspects escaped with a small amount of cash and several cell phones.

Police found the getaway vehicle -- a red Mitsubishi Galant with paper plates  and the suspects about a block away from the crime scene on West Forest. Malik said he chased them down and saw them crash.

"Once they left, I started chasing them and they got into a wreck," Malik said. "Just called the cops and the cops showed up really soon."

Police recovered a T-shirt and a hat left at the scene by at least one of the suspects.

All three men were taken into custody. No additional details were immediately released.
