Houston police: Spring Branch man fatally shot nephew in self-defense
HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Houston police were investigating a homicide Saturday night in the Spring Branch area, and they tell us it appears to be a case of self-defense.
Police were called to a home in the 7800 block of Bellewood at Wirt where officials said they found a 25-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the head.
According to investigators, the victim lived at the home with his uncle. An argument reportedly broke out between the two men, which led to a fist fight and biting.
Police said the uncle, who is in his 50s, shot his nephew at least once in an attempt to defend himself.
The shooter was taken to HPD headquarters to give a statement. Investigators said the man has cuts, bruises and bite marks consistent with his story.
Officials said this case will be referred to a grand jury without charges. No names have been released.
