Five Things to Know

Your daily look at five things that will be talked about today:

  1. HOUSE OF HORRORS PACKED FULL OF SNAKES
  2. A California schoolteacher was arrested after hundreds of living and dead pythons in plastic bins were found stacked floor to ceiling inside his stench-filled home.

  3. SOMETHING YOU'VE NEVER SEEN IN GIRL SCOUT COOKIES BEFORE
  4. Houston is one of the few places in the nation where consumers will be able to buy something from Girl Scouts they've never bought before - gluten free cookies.

  5. SLOW REACTION TIMES COULD MEAN EARLY DEATH
  6. If you're slow on the draw, it could be a sign you're headed to an early grave, according to one new study.

  7. GHOSTLY SIGHT CAPTURED BY PHOTOGRAPHER
  8. LA's famous Cecil Hotel was once a part-time home to serial killer "The Night Stalker" and murder victim "The Black Dahlia," but it may now be home to a haunting new visitor.

  9. THAWING OUT AND WARMING UP
  10. It's a frosty start to the day for much of a southeast Texas with a hard freeze north and east of Houston. Clouds blowing in from the southwest will lock in cool temperatures this afternoon, keeping highs in the 50s. Temperatures will not drop much overnight as clouds, moisture, and a warm front blow in from the Gulf. This will lead to significantly warmer weather Friday and Saturday with light rain occasionally falling from the clouds. By Saturday, dense sea fog is possible along the coast. Our next cold front blows in Super Bowl Sunday. Timing of the front is still uncertain, but temps are likely to fall into the 40s during the afternoon.
