HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The Houston Texans have released wide receiver Jacoby Jones.
He was released Tuesday, less than a week after the Texans selected two receivers in the 2012 NFL Draft.
Jones, a five-year pro from Lane College, played in all 16 games for the Texans in 2011, catching 2 TD passes and returning another for a TD.
The 27-year-old earned the ire of many Texans fans after he muffed a punt during a divisional playoff loss to the Baltimore Ravens back in January.
During his career with the Texans, Jones had 127 receptions for 1,741 yards and 11 TDs. He also had 4 career touchdown returns.
Houston selected wide receivers DeVier Posey of Ohio State in the third round and Keshawn Martin of Michigan State in the fourth round. Martin is also a return man.
Eyewitness Sports will have more today on Eyewitness News at 6pm and 10pm.
