Dallas man charged after girlfriend's baby dies

ARLINGTON, TX -- A Dallas man who was watching his girlfriend's baby has been arrested after the boy was found unresponsive at a motel and died.

Arlington City Jail records show 28-year-old Cameron Phillip Esparza was being held Sunday on a charge of injury to a child.

Bond was set at $50,000 for Esparza, who was arrested Friday night shortly after Landynn Lee Rice Fernandez died at a hospital. Arlington police believe Esparza was taking care of the boy while the mother was at work.

No cause of death was immediately released.

Jail records do not list an attorney for Esparza.
