Police say a 4-year-old boy has died after the vehicle in which he was riding collided with two freight trains in a Texas Panhandle accident.

Amarillo police on Sunday said investigators believe alcohol was a factor in the deadly accident that left the pickup truck driver with life-threatening injuries.

Sgt. Brent Barbee says the truck was pulling a horse trailer with one animal Saturday night when the 38-year-old driver allegedly ignored railroad crossing barricades.

Barbee says the boy was ejected from the truck during the collision with two trains. The man suffered serious injuries and was transported to an Amarillo hospital.

Barbee didn't immediately provide names of the man and child or release any relationship. No BNSF Railway workers were hurt.

Barbee didn't know the fate of the horse.
