BEAUMONT, TX -- A man and a young girl in Southeast Texas have died after being found unresponsive in a city pool that closed weeks ago.
A municipal worker in Beaumont found the unidentified pair Thursday morning when he went to check the pool. KFDM-TV reports the two were found in a wading pool with about a foot and a half of water. Authorities say the child, about 5 years old, was found underneath the man.
They were taken to a Beaumont hospital where they died.
It wasn't immediately clear why they were at the pool, which closed before Labor Day, or the circumstances of their death.
Investigators have ordered autopsies be conducted.
