EL PASO, TX -- A man who allegedly became combative with police in West Texas during a domestic disturbance call has died while in law enforcement custody.
El Paso police say an autopsy has been ordered on the 36-year-old man who was pronounced dead Sunday at a hospital. His name wasn't immediately released. An El Paso police statement says witnesses say the suspect was acting irrational and violent early Sunday as if under the influence of drugs. Police who answered the domestic disturbance call say the man was yelling and became aggressive toward an officer before trying to flee. Other officers help handcuff the suspect, who was arrested on charges of evading and resisting arrest. The suspect became unresponsive while being transported to a police station.
