It is a lot easier these days to make sure your Thanksgiving dinner is a success, thanks to smart phone apps.

Here are a few top ones you may want to check out:

The free Thanksgiving Menu Maker app from Fine Cooking brings you more than 75 favorite recipes, ranging from starters to desserts. Plus, it will give you a customized shopping list and schedule.

Those tackling turkey for the first time can try the free Chow Thanksgiving Dinner Coach by CBS Interactive. The app includes step-by-step instructions for a variety of ways to prepare and cook the bird.

The free Thanksgiving Recipes app for Android by Seven Leaf also includes instructions for the main dish and many traditional sides.

And turkey titan Butterball takes its Thanksgiving day hotline high-tech with the Butterball Cookbook Plus app. For $4.99, the app includes recipes, turkey tips, how-to videos, upcoming Butterball promotions and more.
