Strong storms moved across area Saturday

Friday, August 17, 2007

The rain just does not seem to go away. Twenty-three out of the last 26 days have been filled with nothing but showers across the Houston area.

Just yesterday afternoon we saw another round of big thunderstorms. Residents living in southeast Houston and the Pasadena area saw a lot of rain and lightning, too. We talked to several people who said they also saw funnel clouds.

"We saw a funnel cloud come down. It was swirling pretty good. Probably, it came down a little ways and it sat down," said eyewitness Brad Vandenhul. "(It) swirled out towards Bayport, probably for about ten to fifteen minutes."

There were no reports of any injuries after those storms moved through the Pasadena area.

There was also some flooding along Westheimer in southwest Houston. Many drivers pushed their luck and rolled right through the high water. But emergency managers say it's never a good idea to do this, simply because you really never know just how deep the water can be.
