Brief Surge of Mild Air
March 10, 2014 -- It was another mild, pleasant day. We hit a high of 56 degrees in Philadelphia today. That's five degrees above the average high for March 10th. It'll get even warmer Tuesday.
TONIGHT: Partly cloudy skies appear likely. Overnight lows will be mild: 40 in Philadelphia, mid- to upper 30s in some suburbs.
TUESDAY: It's partly sunny and even warmer, thanks to a continued southwest flow ahead of our next approaching cold front. The high is a very mild 65.
WEDNESDAY: Clouds build as a front arrives and rain develops late in the day. We'll still manage to hit a mild high of 64 degrees before the rain moves in. Rain will be heavy at times overnight, with even a rumble of thunder possible.
THURSDAY: Rain could end as a brief period of wet snow very early Thursday morning and quickly falling temperatures could cause a freeze on some roads for the Thursday morning commute. Cold air returns! Wind chills will drop below zero Thursday mornnig and only climb into the single digits in the afternoon. It will be blustery, with clouds breaking for some sun and a measly high of 30 degrees. Brrr!
FRIDAY: Temperatures begin in the teens and low 20s in the morning, but we begin to rebound during the afternoon. The high is a less harsh 46.
SATURDAY: The rebound continues. Clouds mix with sun. We see a nice high of 57. Conditions look great for the Philadelphia Union home opener against New England at PPL Park at 4 p.m.
SUNDAY: It's partly sunny, breezy and cooler with a high of 49.
MONDAY: It's cloudy and colder with a chance for snow. The high is 38.
