Phil Lipof

Phil Lipof
Phil Lipof co-anchors WABC-TV's weekend morning news shows with Michelle Charlesworth. He comes to Eyewitness News from WHDH in Boston.

Phil's extensive reporting has taken him all over the world, including traveling to Israel after 9/11for a series on terrorism, to Germany to speak with wounded troops, and to the Gulf Coast where he reported live on Hurricane Katrina.

A native of Newton, MA, Phil moved to Boston in July 2001, from WFOR, the CBS affiliate in Miami, FL, where he was Morning Anchor as well as a General Assignment Reporter. While at WFOR, Phil distinguished himself by landing various enterprising stories including exclusive interviews with O.J Simpson. Phil also jumped out of an airplane with the Army's Golden Knights, went flying with the Canadian Air Force, and swimming with sharks off Boca Raton's coast.

Before WFOR, Phil was Evening Anchor at WRNN the Regional News Network, based in Kingston, New York. Phil began his career at KIDK, the CBS affiliate in Idaho Falls, ID. Here he anchored the morning and noon newscasts and was a reporter. Among his accomplishments while at KIDK, Phil reported exclusive interviews with such controversial news-makers as Mark Fuhrman (of the O.J. Simpson murder trial fame) and Richard Butler (head of the Aryan nation).

Phil is a graduate of Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communication and a minor in Writing. When not at work, he enjoys working out, playing tennis, playing guitar, and most of all spending quality time with his family. Phil resides Westchester County with his wife Juli, and their two young children.
