  • August 12, 2013 - Indirect racial profiling that's unconstitutional.
  • The first debates
  • August 9, 2013 - Fireworks erupted in our studio today. Political fireworks. What was perhaps the most important political debate for the long careers of both Eliot Spitzer and Scott Stringer.
  • The NYPD oversight fight
  • August 8, 2013 - Mayor Bloomberg doesn't want it. Neither does his police commish. But an Inspector General to oversee the NYPD moved a step closer to reality today. A New York City Council member, considered a swing vote on the upcoming tally to override Bloomberg's veto of the monitor, today saying he'll vote in favor of the independent inspector.
  • Who vandalized 42?
  • August 7, 2013 - Jackie Robinson? Really? The main man? The man who broke baseball's color barrier?
  • Suspended reality?
  • August 6, 2013 - Does it seem that Major League Baseball supporters are a bit too way-to-go after yesterday's much-ballyhooed suspension of 13 players for using performing-enhancing drugs?

  • Waiting on A-Rod ruling
  • August 1, 2013 - The best ballplayer in history. That was the label some were slapping on Alex Rodriguez a few years ago, as he appeared to be slugging his way to break baseball's all-time home-run record.
  • Mystery on the Hudson
  • July 31, 2013 - This never figured to be a cut and dry case of boating tragedy. And tonight it's living up to that.
  • What ifs
  • July 30, 2013 - There are a lot of "what ifs" in that tragic boat accident in the Hudson River. A bride-to-be was killed. So, too, was the best man in the upcoming wedding. And the pilot of the boat, a friend, is now charged with driving drunk and vehicular manslaughter.
  • Walking to the door
  • July 29, 2013 - She died way too young. Darlene Ritter was just 61 when lung cancer quickly ravaged her body. She was diagnosed in October; she died in early January - 11 weeks of hell. She would have been 86 had she lived. 86 today. July 29 still means mom's birthday, despite the 24 years since her death. And I'm thinking of her today.
  • I give up, It's hot!
  • July 18, 2013 - Something happens in all this heat, and I've been trying to deny it all week and finally, on the hottest day of this heat wave (it may last up to 7 days!), I've succumbed.
  • 17 years ago tonight
  • July 17, 2013 - The call came 17 years ago tonight, just before 9:30. Actually it was a beep, because back then we used pagers more than cell phones. Get in your car, pick up two producers at ABC, and drive to East Moriches on Long Island. That's what the executive producer of Good Morning America told me when I called in.
