They're the movies you love... and they're coming to Central Park!

From Aug. 21-25, all of the films shown at the 10th annual Central Park Conservancy Film Festival will be cult classics that have made their way into the hearts of legions of fans.


Coming to America
Prince Akeem of Zamunda goes against tradition and travels to America to look for the love of his life -- before he is scheduled to marry a woman he's never met. Starring Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall and James Earl Jones. 116 min. (1988)

Clerks
Dante gets called in on his off day as a New Jersey convenience clerk and encounters a multitude of problems. Starring Brian O'Halloran and Jeff Anderson. 92 min. (1994)

Presented by Bloomberg since its inception, the festival will be held in the landscape north of Sheep Meadow, beside the cafe (in the middle of the park at 69th Street). Festival goers can enter the park at 72nd Street.

All screenings begin at 8 p.m., rain or shine. Gates open to the public at 6:30 p.m. All movies will be close-captioned. Patrons are encouraged to bring a picnic. Please note that alcoholic beverages, glass bottles, video cameras, tape recorders or flash cameras are not allowed. All bags are subject to search.

Tuesday, Aug. 21: Do the Right Thing

Bigotry and racial tension turns into violence on the streets of Bedford-Stuyvesant in Brooklyn in this Spike Lee classic. Starring Danny Aiello, Ossie Davis and Lee himself. 120 min. (1989)


Wednesday, Aug. 22: Pee-wee's Big Adventure

The title character sets off on a cross-country trek in search of his stolen bike. Starring Paul Reubens and Elizabeth Daily. 90 min. (1985)

Thursday, Aug. 23: The Big Lebowski

When Lebowski, a.k.a "The Dude," is mistaken for a millionaire he looks for recompense for a ruined rug with the help from his bowling buddies. Starring Jeff Bridges, John Goodman, Steve Buscemi and Julianne Moore. 117 min. (1998)


Friday, Aug. 24: Animal House

The administration at Faber College would like nothing better to permanently shut down Delta Tau Chi -- but not if the fraternity has anything to say about it. Starring John Belushi, Tim Matheson and Kevin Bacon. 109 min. (1978)
