HEMPSTEAD (WABC) -- A Hempstead native was killed in Iraq, just days before he was scheduled to return home.
The U.S. military says Army Sgt. Juan Carlos Baldeosingh was killed with four other soldiers in Baghdad when an IED hit their Humvee.
His sister, who lives in East Meadow, says she learned of his death when she received an instant message on the Internet from his wife.
He was killed just days before he was to return home on leave.
She said Baldeosingh had three children.
"He was all about his family," Jennyfer Baldeosingh said.
Baldeosingh grew up in Hempstead. He lived with his family in Carteret, N.C., near where he was stationed.
