Lincoln Center Tree Lighting 2006

The Lincoln Center holiday tree is shining once again!

For the 7th year, the kickoff to the annual Winter's Eve celebration drew a crowd to Lincoln Center. And what a night they had this year, with almost balmy weather to welcome in the holiday season.

WABC-TV broadcast this highly-anticipated and multi-cultural holiday celebration of light on Monday's "Eyewitness News at 5:00 p.m. Our hosts were Eyewitness News' Sam Champion and Sade Baderinwa.

        The Metropolitan Opera's new holiday family production
  • Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra
  • George Balanchine's The Nutcracker
        A selection performed by the New York City Ballet and students
  • The Big Apple Circus

  • The SRC All-City Gospel Chorale and special guest Alvin Slaughter
         Holiday favorites

    At 5:56pm, the tree was formally lit bringing the beauty and drama of the season to the plaza fountain and the Metropolitan Opera House. And after the tree lighting, the Lincoln Square Business Improvement District hosted the 7th Annual Winter's Eve at Lincoln Square, a giant neighborhood celebration featuring free entertainment, family fun, kids' activities, food samplings from area eateries, in-store activities and shopping all over this vibrant neighborhood.
