(New York-WABC, June 20, 2007) (WABC) -- We're back!
Back in our studio.
After 3 and a half weeks on a makeshift set in our newsroom, with sports and weather in different parts of the room and building, we are all back together again. (Click here to see pictures of our repaired facility.)
The damage from the fire that swept through our studio has been repaired, thanks to a 24/7 effort by our remarkable technical and engineering and maintenance and stage crews. I'm not sure I can say enough about the good work they all did these past three-plus weeks.
We are grateful to them.
We are also grateful to all of you -- so many people wrote or called to find out how we were doing, and when our studio would be back. And, most importantly, our viewers stayed with us through our obviously temporary patch of a news set.
And so, thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Now to our 11 p.m. newscast on our rebuilt set. In Roscoe, about 100 miles northwest of New York City, rescue crews are looking for four people still missing after a flash flood late last night. Eight inches of rain hit the area -- roads and homes were washed out, bridges were blocked by fallen trees.
Also at 11, we'll have the latest developments in the political party change of Mayor Bloomberg. He denies it -- why would he deny it if it weren't true? -- but many people, experts and non-experts alike, believe he's about to launch an independent bid for President.
We'll also have any breaking news of the night, plus Lee Goldberg's AccuWeather forecast and Scott Clark with the night's sports. I hope you can join Diana Williams (in for Liz Cho) and me, tonight at 11.
