Terror plot foiled

May 7, 2012 (WABC) -- A plot to bomb a U.S.-bound airliner - thwarted by the CIA. That word now coming out about a new fangled twist in the old underwear bomber scheme to plant explosives in a pair of men's undies and then let it off mid-air.

The CIA apparently scotched the plan after finding out that al Qaeda's affiliate in Yemen had hatched the bomb plot.

No word yet on what happened to the would-be bomber - who reportedly had a 2.0 version of the old underwear bomber whose plan was stopped in Detroit on Christmas, 2009.

This new bomber was told to buy a ticket on the "airliner of his choosing" and then decide for himself the timing of the attack.

Makes me nauseous just writing it.

Also at 11, some fitful nights for folks living near the Brooklyn Bridge. In fact, many fitful nights. Overnight repairs - designed to minimize the impact on commuters - apparently maximizing the discomfort on residents near the bridge. The noise, say those who live with it, is simply unbearable.
