An incredible picture released out of West Africa shows a family of chimps mourning the loss of a family member.

As shown on Good Morning America on Wednesday, workers at a West African animal shelter were preparing to burry an elderly chimpanzee named Dorothy, who had died of heart failure.

That's when members of her extended family abandoned their normal routine to silently gather around her - clearly mourning the loss.

Experts say this is clear evidence that chimpanzees can also grieve the loss of loved ones.
