(New York-WABC, Oct. 24, 2006) (WABC) -- Two high profile rappers appeared Manhattan Criminal courthouse today for separate incidents.
Rapper Busta Rhymes is facing charges of assault and possession of a weapon. While Rapper Foxy Brown finally appeared before a judge this morning, to learn her fate for attacking a nail salon worker.
Rhymes, who's real name is Trevor Smith had to face the judge on an incident stemming back to August. He allegedly spit on a man's car.
Judge Shawndra Simpson postponed Rhyme's case until December 11th, but denied the Manhattan DA's office request to add a weapon possession charge.
Apparently a machete was found in the back seat of Rhymes' SUV.
As Busta Rhymes dodged questions from the media, while complaining he couldn't breathe, Foxy Brown showed up with her entourage and left court a happy woman.
Rapper Foxy Brown: "I'm happy. I'm in good spirits."
Foxy Brown was sentenced to three years probation this morning.
Eyewitness News has learned Brown, whose real name is Inga Marchand, told a Manhattan Criminal Court judge at this morning's sentencing that she was not guilty.
And her attorney, Frank Rothman, said that the rapper was poorly represented by her former lawyer.
Abiding by a prior plea deal, according to reports, Judge Melissa Jackson sentenced the 27-year-old to three years probation.
The rapper was also told she could not go near the two employees she assaulted for the next five years.
When she failed to show up yesterday, the judge told her she would be sent to jail if she did not appear today.
The original 2004 dispute stemmed from an argument over payment for a manicure.
